Destiny 2: Shadowkeep FINAL PREP GUIDE

With the release of Destiny 2’s latest DLC Shadwokeep around the corner there are some things you can do to make your transition and power-leveling a lot easier. In these simple steps we will go through some of the final preparations you should be taking.

#1 MATERIALS AND TOKENS

Get and safe as much materials and tokens as you can, with a recent update the cap for materials and tokens has increased to 9999 for each stack. It’s a waste to infuse anything at this moment as with the release of Shadowkeep and Destiny New Light everything will get their power-level raised to 750 so stop infusing and start saving your materials and tokens asap.

Alkane Dust

Baryon Bough

Dusklight Shard

Etheric Spiral

Gunsmith Materials

Microphasic Datalattice

Phaseglass Needle

Seraphite

Simulation Seed

Crucible Token

Vanguard Tactician Token

Emperor Calus Token

Enhancement Core

Mod Components

Finest Matterweave

Pure Matterglass Lens

Rainmaker

#2 BOUNTIES / QUEST / XP HOARDING

UPDATE: Just like last season Iron Banner bounties are likely to disappear from your inventory upon Shadowkeep release. It’s best to get your rewards from them now

Simply put save all bounties you can now and don’t turn them in. Some say you should only save bounties that do not give powerful rewards. I say save them all. As far as I know powerful rewards unlike Prime and Exotic engrams do not have a level cap. The only reason they drop up to 750 now is because that’s the hard cap. Save all bounties I say so you can level up the new artifact in Shadowkeep as quick as possible.

Also save any weapon quest / pinnacle weapon you can (Hush / Nightshade / Wendigo GL3 / Recluse etc) they don’t come with a power level and might be your first step when leveling up your character for Shadowkeep

I would also save any Prime and Exotic engram you can. They will not drop 750+ gear but they will drop Armor 2.0. There are also Exotic engrams that drop without a preview/loot table so be sure to save them to have a chance at new Exotic drops once Shadowkeep is live.

Weapons - Pinnacle - Quests

Vanguard

Crucible

Werner 99-40

Black Armory

Spider

Gambit and Gambit Prime

Clan

Planetary

Gun Smith (Banshee-44)

Dreaming City

Iron Banner (DO NOT SAVE!)

#3 WEAPON MODS

Any weapon mod you have in your inventory when Shadowkeep releases will be updated to the re-usable type in Shadowkeep. If the weapon MOD is not in your inventory but on a weapon you’re using be sure to dismantle it so you can have it back or buy/grind for a new one to safe in your inventory. So be sure to have 1 of each weapon mod in your inventory you can safely remove duplicates.

Backup Mag

Boss Spec

Counterbalance Stock

Freehand Grip

Icarus Grip

Major Spec

Minor Spec

Radar Booster

Radar Tuner

Surrounded Spec

Taken Spec

Targeting Adjuster

Rampage Spec

Dragonfly Spec

#4 EVERVERSE ITEMS

With the release of Shadowkeep all eververse items will no longer refund bright dust when you dismantle them. Eververse items that used to cost bright dust to pull it from your collections will now cost legendary shards. So dismantle everything eververse related and re-buy them with shards once Shadowkeep releases. Brigh Dust can only be earned gameplay wise (probably the eververse bounties). So if you have the chance to stock up on Bright Dust do so now. NOTE: Eververse Armor will turn into “transmogs” meaning any eververse armor that you dismantle can be applied to any Armor 2.0 piece in Shadowkeep

Shaders

Ghosts

Ships

Sparrow

Transmat Effect

Armor

#5 VAULT CLEANING

If you’re like me this might be a “tough” one (I have a hoarding problem) but clean your vault. Get rid of weapons you don’t use, armor you don’t use just get rid of anything you haven’t used last season (as you probably never will)

Maybe keep one good PvE and one good PvP set. If it’s to difficult to choose, just keep anything with “Enhanced Perks”. Some say it’s wise to keep armomr with scavenger perks as we don’t know if the new system will be better than the old one. (but we have a lot of questions about a lot of things at the moment)

#6 EXTRA’S

I would also recommend to save your Escalation Protocol keys. Don’t open the last (boss 7th and last chest). Save them for Shadowkeep release so you can get Armor 2.0 Escalation Protocol Armor.

MOD COMPONENTS: Get them from ADA-1 (Black armory)

MATERIALS AND ENHANCEMENT CORES: Trade them at the Spider (Tangled shore)

SHADOWKEEP START: If you have multiple chacraters

#7 RELEASE DAY!

If you have multiple characters start Shadowkeep on your least favorite one (not your main) and (if possible) go the the tower first.

Once in the tower make sure you have a XP GHOST *guiding light) and use a  Fireteam Medallion for more XP and start with Any Prime Engrams and -or Exotic engrams you might have saved.

IF YOU STOCKED UP ON BOUNTIES:

*Gun Smith (pickup the your first *new* Armor 2.0 set

Start claiming them now. Be sure to get any weekly/daily/rewards in between (milestones) that pop up in your screen before going further with claiming the rest of your bounties. Once you claimed them all and are hopefully a few levels higher start with the process below (if possible)

IF YOU DON’T HAVE BOUNTIES STOCKED:

Go to all the vendors to see if there are any new bounties:

*Vanguard

*Crucible

*Gun Smith (pickup the your first *new* Armor 2.0 set (technically it will not be first anymore if you saved prime and exotic engrams as they should drop 2.0 as well

*Drifter (Gambit)

*ADA-1 (Black Armory)

*Hawthorne (Clan Bounties)

Now if possible go to nessus to see if werner-44 is still there and pickup the bounties there. The moon will probably be the flashpoint and if possible get the bounties there as well before starting the campaign (although you probably have to play the campaign/intro to Shadowkeep first)

That’s it for now (As far as I know – if I forgot anything or am wrong about something please let me know)
